left yesterday intending to do a long slow gravel ride after riding myself into the ground sunday. somehow that turned into my first ever sub-4 hour gravel metric. 62 miles and change up to harmony and back in something like 3 hours 58 minutes. weather was perfect, wind was mild, road conditions were fast, legs felt good...felt good to ride hard and have the body respond well.
big ring inspired evidence of the fastest i've ever gone on a gravel road. 43 mph going down coldwater creek hill just north of bluffton.

where you on the fixed or where you riding a geared bike. At 43mph I don't think the tires were even making contact. Glad to hear you are doing well.

single but not fixed. i think my hips would still be recovering if i would have tried to spin that out fixie :)
Ben,
Just curious when you did the T.I. what chainring/cog combo did you use? How was it riding over 3 centuries in a row without coasting. I am still amazed at what you did.

37x16 is what i ended up running for t.i. as for riding that far without coasting, it simply involved a lot of stopping. i don't know that i had the discipline to take care of body like that and was happy to be riding with some experienced guys that knew what it took to get to the end. left alone i think i would have ridden myself into the ground and risked not making it.
Holy shit dude. That's incredibly fast for a gravel road. You are a hell of a lot braver than I am (though that wouldn't take much).
